Struggling to write during this pandemic?

You’re not alone. It’s hard to focus with SO much going on.

However, this “shelter in place” life is the “new normal” for all of us now — and will be for many days and weeks to come.

You don’t have to give up your writing. You just need a new plan . . .

I’ve started a private 2020 Writing Pledge Facebook group on my Facebook page. (If you “like” the page, Facebook will allow me to invite you to join the group.)

My goal is to keep us writing until Camp NaNoWriMo begins in April.

Q. What is Camp NaNoWriMo?

A. “Camp NaNoWriMo is a writing event that happens in April and July. It’s different from NaNoWriMo in November because you can work on any type of creative project, not just a novel. First drafts or revision, scripts or stories or poems or essays–all are welcome! Just set a goal and get writing.”

I like to use Camp NaNoWriMo to start a new book as a zero draft.

Can you write 2 pages of thoughts about your book each a day from April 21-31? (Then we can all jump over to Camp NaNoWriMo on April 1 and join the larger community there.)

FYI: Facebook and Camp NaNoWriMo both allow teens to join, so if you know a teen with a book idea, please share the word.

If this new writing plan will work for you, I’d love to connect on Facebook!

Happy writing! Anastasia

October 26th Novel Writing Workshop

Starting Your Novel with Character and Conflict: A NaNoWriMo Writing Workshop

A novel starts with you. Your life views shape the characters in your books. Which life view will be the theme of your next novel? Get ready for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in this 3-hour writing workshop. Bring a notebook or a laptop and your library card. Discover how a novel’s theme sets up the internal and external plots and establishes the main character’s fatal flaw. Explore the relationships of the primary characters in your novel by delving in their conflicts at multiple levels to develop their back story. Use this knowledge to help you write your novel day by day in November.

Date: Saturday, October 26, 2019
Time: 10:00am – 1:00pm
Location: Aptos Meeting Room
