Booktalk: After defeating Rancora, the Star Darlings are looking for clues about her origin. They soon discover the wish-troubled history between Lady Stella and the evil Lady Rancora that dates back to when the two women were teens at Starling Academy. They also learn new secrets about the women’s friendship and how it relates to the negative energy crisis that almost destroyed Starland… and the danger that still threatens their way of life.

Snippet: “What kind of visions?”

“Well . . .” Piper took a few more breaths. “It’s kind of scary.”

“Tell me!” Vega demanded.

“Alright. I saw Rancora in a big dark cloud—but she kept changing into Lady Cordial and then back to herself,” Piper recounted. “Everytime she changed into Rancora, she tried to pull us into the cloud too, and she kept saying she wanted us to join forces with her.”

“Us–who is us?” Vega’s eyes danced with worry.

“All twelve of us–the Star Darlings,” Piper said.

Snippet:
El desierto

Voy corriendo por el desierto
con mi mami.
Ella me toma
la mano.

Yo miro las estrellas.
Cada una de ellas
como su manos,
me guía con su luz.

The Desert

I am running through the desert
with my mother.
She takes
my hand.

I look at the stars.
Each star,
like her hand,
guides me with its light.
