Cat’s Egg

Cat’s Egg
by Aparna Karthikeyan (Author) and Christine Kastl (Illustrator)

Booktalk: How long does it take to hatch a kitten? Cat isn’t sure, but she would rather be snacking or napping. Join her as she looks around for a babysitter for her mysterious golden egg. She seeks help from her baffled friend Dog, a crow, a cuckoo, and a turtle, for as we all know, it takes a village to raise an egg.

Snippet: “Care to watch my egg for me?” asks Cat.

Cuckoo whispers, “I wouldn’t know how. I lay mine in Crow’s nest. Two over there,” she points to Crow’s nest, “are mine.”

“Won’t she find out?” Cat asks?

Cuckoo shrugs and coos, “All of us were raised by crows.”
