Para Track and Field (Paralympic Sports)

Para Track and Field (Paralympic Sports)
by Luke Hanlon (Author)

Booktalk: In the Paralympic Games, the best athletes with disabilities compete for a chance to win gold. Explore the history of Para track and field, the classification system for the sport, and notable athletes in this middle grade book.

Snippet: Unlike other runners, Cam used a prosthetic leg when he ran. He was born without the bottom part of his right leg. The prosthetic connected to his leg just below his knee. A curved blade at the bottom compressed when it hit the track. The prosthetic allowed Cam to compete on a high school team with nondisabled athletes.
