Their names were Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay and the roof of the world was Everest. This is the story of how two very different yet equally determined men battled frost-biting temperatures, tumbling ice rocks, powerful winds and death-defying ridges to climb the world’s highest mountain.

Snippet: What made Hillary and Tenzing’s achievement all the more remarkable was that they had triumphed where so many others had failed before. Climbers had been trying to reach the top of Everest for more than thirty years.

A huge amount of time, effort, and money –not to mention national pride– had been invested in these attempts. Despite this, each one had ended in disappointment, and some even in death.

See the book trailer.

It’s Nonfiction Monday!

Copyright © 2020 Anastasia Suen All Rights Reserved.

Everest: The Remarkable Story of Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay by Alexandra Stewart (Author) and Joe Todd-Stanton (Illustrator) Booktalk: In the late morning of May 29th 1953, the sun was shining brightly on the roof of the world, a gentle breeze was blowing and two men were there to witness it for the first time …

Continue reading “Everest: The Remarkable Story of Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay”

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[2

post-740","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-nonfiction-monday-round-up
10 at 10: The Surprising Childhoods of Ten Remarkable People by Carlyn Beccia (Author / Illustrator) @ Amazon | Bookshop | IndieBound Booktalk: Audrey Hepburn, Roberto Clemente, Albert Einstein-kids know the names, but do they know what some of history's most famous figures were like at the age of ten?…
https://i0.wp.com/asuen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/10at10-595x739.jpg?resize=350%2C200&ssl=1 1x, https://i0.wp.com/asuen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/10at10-595x739.jpg?resize=525%2C300&ssl=1 1.5x

https://asuen.com/nonfictionmonday/secrets-of-the-sea-the-story-of-jeanne-power-revolutionary-marine-scientist/
Looking for a new picture book biography?
