The Princess and the Absolutely Not a Princess

The Princess and the Absolutely Not a Princess
by Emma Wunsch (Author) and Jessika von Innerebner (Illustrator)

Booktalk: Princess Miranda does not want to go to school. She wants to shoe shop, plan parties, and decorate the castle. Maude cannot wait for school. She loves rules and social justice and getting good grades. She also loves hard-boiled eggs, much to Miranda’s dismay. When a tense first week of school results in Maude getting excluded from the Royal Birthday Party, Maude decides she’s found her first fight for social justice: a birthday boycott.

Snippet: Using Mountain River Valley’s official school directory, Maude found her classmate’s addresses. She rang doorbells, buzzed buzzers, and knocked on doors with heavy brass knockers. And, when her classmates weren’t home, Maude found them at soccer games, origami instruction, and indoor swimming pools. Maude’s classmates thought it was strange that Maude had found them on a Saturday, but they also liked it. It made them feel special to have Maude skate over and say, “I must talk to you about something important!”
