Twinkle

Booktalk: Twinkle is just starting to learn her spells in fairy school, but her spells go sideways!

Snippet: Twinkle tried swooshing her wand, but she got it all wrong, and instead of landing in a plum tree she landed upside down in a prickly holly bush!

“Ouch!” cried Twinkle, and Mrs. Flutterbee had to rescue her.

“Now remember to practice at home,” said Mrs. Flutterbee. “But no spells at night — you don’t want to start a ruckus.”

Henry is Kind: A Story of Mindfulness

Booktalk: Ms. Snowden and her class practice sending kind thoughts to the people they love, and they launch a class Kindness Project. There is only one problem: Henry can’t think of one kind thing he has done. Declaring that kindness is stupid, he stomps to the classroom door on the verge of tears, but his classmates save the day by reminding him of the kind things he has done for each of them.

Snippet: “Henry,” said Rosie, “don’t you remember when we were in the library and you reached for a book on a high shelf for me? That was kind.”
